Beginning with
Samuel Packard
(1612-1684) who emigrated to Plymouth Massachusetts Colony
in
1638 on the ship Diligent from Ipswich, England. we trace the line
through:
Captain Josiah Packard on 12 Jan 1747 married Sarah Ames (b 1724) at
Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Their children were: Due to the absence of Census information prior to 1800 and incomplete information from 1800 to 1540, and lack of documentation there is a gap in the line. Abiel Packard decendants:
However it seems that the Abiel b Abt 1769 married Hannah Harris (b
1772) on 04 Oct 1794. Their children were: Sheppard Packard, of an old Massachusetts family, was born about 1787, and came to Mapleton with his wife and seven children. He served in the war of 1812. information gathered by Jean Dean regarding her family ancestors. The
only exception being Shepard Packard's date of birth.. However, the date
of birth she had was improbable considering the dates of birth of his
children and the 1787 date much more likely to be accurate.
Sheperd *note 1
*note 1 We have records of Shepard's brothers, Abiel and his family, Sylvanus, apparently never married and was listed as a farm hand in the 1870 Census, and there are records of Ansel and his family. None have a son named Shepard. If you have any information to help please Contact Grandpa Don Barnabas Packard and wife Sally
We do not know Barnabas' parents nor Sally's
parents. We do not have either their dates of birth or his death. Sally
Packard died 10 May 1804 Their children were.
Jean Dean has traced her ancestry back to a Shepard Packard which may be
the sane Shepard as the one born in 1795. He was married to Mary Jackson
on 15 Jun 1817. Their children were: If you have information that would document this connection to Captain Josiah Packard or disprove it please Contact Grandpa Don My mother's ancestors are documented from a Sheppard Packard born in Massachusetts about 1818. Maine was part of Massachusetts until 1820 and so it is possible that Captain Josiah Packard is one of this Shepard's ancestors. This Shepard Packard was married to Martha Clay on 26 June 1847 in Vermillion, Ohio and they lived with their eight children in the Cleveland area. It seems unlikely that this line could stem from Abiel Packard and Hanna Harris. However, it is possible that our Shepard (1818) was the son or grandson of one of the other children of Captain Josiah Packard and Sarah Ames. There is also the possibility that he is the son or grandson of a brother of Captain Josiah Packard. Or ... Could our Shepard Packard (b Abt1818) been the son of one of Barnabas' children, possibly Shepard (b 19 Apr, 1790) ? If you can add any information Contact Grandpa Don The line to the Packard's of Automobile fame We assume that The founders of the Packard Motor Car Company, have ancestors in common with our Packard line. We have searched the internet and found reasonable evidence that William Doud Packard and James Ward Packard have a line going back to John Packard (b 20 Jan 1748 - d 07 Jan 1827) in Vermont. There the trail ends. Who were John's parents and grandparents. Can a line be established for them back to Samuel Packard (1612-1684)? How? If you can add any information Contact Grandpa Don
